After members of Oheb Zedek-Taylor Road Synagogue sued three of their own board members and the board of trustees at Oheb Zedek-Cedar Sinai Synagogue in November 2012, one of Cleveland’s beth din became involved.
A beth din is a court of Jewish religious law organized by a community with a sufficient number of Jews and a sufficient number of disputes to settle. The size of the community doesn’t matter. What does is that it determines there is a sufficient number of disputes to settle.

can i ask you how you publicize such an article? Is this not an embarrsment to our cleveland bais din? and since when is rabbi blum(kvodo bemkomo munach, i dont think this is something he even claims) the leader of the bais din? rabbi grumer is the founder of this bais din. this is a major chutzpa by the cjn.
Avrohom Henfield says
Yashar koach to Clevelander for saying what I was thinking as well. The CJN has historically never been a great ally of the Frum Community and this article is no exception. How can a newspaper that doesn’t hold of a bais din fairly report about one?
Hieghtser says
I appreiciated Rabbi Shimon Weiner’s comments at the end of the article. Respectful and poignient comments like that should be our response to the CJN’s disrespect of Bais Din and our Rabbonim.
Responses are called for, but I stress, the operative word is respectful – stay above reproach in any comments: Many will come to see our point fo view, and others will be hostile no matter what, but take care not to give them cause to strike back pointing fingers.
Shimeon Weiner says
Hieghtser – thanks for the compliment – and the smicha – I am a mister. I really think that Rabbi should be reserved for Rabbonim and active Klei Kodesh –
All the best,
SW
