The Jewish Federation of Cleveland is looking for a Fiscal Specialist. (Ed: This may be a good job for someone with administrative, bookkeeping, or similar experience but requires no advanced degrees. )
Under general supervision of the Director Fiscal Operations, provides accounting and administrative support for the fiscal department
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- 1. Account for State of Israel Bond activity including, donations, purchases, redemptions, grants and interest
- 2. Create original wire transfers based on capital call documentation
- 3. Assist with filing of documents as needed in the fiscal department
- 4. Perform data input in Financial Edge and Endowment Manager software
- 5. Assist in pricing and recording donated securities
- 6. Perform account analysis as needed.
- 7. Update accounting records to reflect broker statement activity.
- 8. Prepare correspondence, reports and documents as needed
- 9. Coordinate meetings by: managing scheduling, communications, arranging logistics of the meetings including location, room layout and catering, organizing follow-up systems / reminders after meetings and by ensuring all required materials are available as needed
10. Answer telephones, takes messages, refer callers to appropriate staff and/or answers their questions (i.e. event information, phone numbers, addresses)
- 11. Interact professionally on a regular basis with staff, donors, vendors and the general public
- 12. Assume additional responsibilities and performs special projects as needed or directed
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training and/or Experience
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least 5 years administrative assistant experience with bookkeeping aptitude.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications, and with intranet and internet usage.
- Proficiency in excel.
- Ability to write business correspondence.
- Ability to organize work, engage in a variety of tasks simultaneously and consistently meet deadlines.
- High attention to detail, follow-up, self-motivated, proactive and solution focused.
- Well-developed customer services skills.
- Ability to express self effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to tactfully and effectively deal with public and staff in a personable and professional manner.
- Maintains a high level of energy and a consistent positive attitude.

- Previous administrative and bookkeeping experience
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Nature of work requires an ability to operate standard business office equipment. Also requires ability to communicate and exchange information, collect, compile and prepare work documents, set-up and maintain work files. Travel by automobile may be required occasionally.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work performed in a general office environment. The position may require availability for additional hours during peak periods. Requires periodic participation and attendance at organization sponsored events and meetings.
