(Jewish Federation of Cleveland)
In remembrance of those who came before us, the Jewish Federation of Cleveland and the Commission on Cemetery Preservation are sponsoring the Annual Cemetery Clean Up. This year’s event is scheduled for Sunday August 18 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., at Lansing Cemetery, 3933 E. 57th Street, Cleveland OH.
Volunteers are needed to weed, rake, prune and beautify the grounds of the historic 123-year-old cemetery. This family-friendly activity is open to all ages and will take place rain or shine. Participants are asked to bring weed trimmers, shovels, clippers, hedgers, gloves, wheelbarrows and other gardening tools.
“Jewish tradition teaches that working to maintain a cemetery is true kindness because it is done without expectation that the recipient will express gratitude or repay the action,” said Dan Brown, event co-chair.
Registration is open through August 14. To RSVP, visit www.jewishcleveland.org/volunteer. For more information, including phone registration, please call 216.593.2900 ext. 227, or email volunteer@jcfcleve.org.
