(OOPS!I mistakenly put the wrong name. MELISSA!! If you have any questions for this candidate, leave a comment.)
As a candidate for Council, I am proud to continue my family’s long tradition of Jewish leadership in Cleveland Heights and in Greater Cleveland. Ever since my great-great grandfathers Menachem Mendel Madorsky and Jacob Makoff founded Zemach Zedek and Heights Jewish Center, civic engagement has been part of my and my family’s very being. For example, my grandfather, James Yasinow, is a former candidate for the CH-UH Board of Education, and he, my aunt (Debbie Yasinow), and my father (Dr. Eric Yasinow) are all in the Heights High Alumni Hall of Fame.
In addition to working as an attorney at Kohrman Jackson & Krantz, I am a Board Member for the Anti-Defamation League and a graduate of Shana Amy Glass Leadership Institute. I am also a recipient of the Wuliger Family AIPAC Policy Conference Scholarship, a leadership award to the 2013 AIPAC Conference, and served as the keynote speaker for the 2012 Your Day In Court, a yearly Jewish Federation event that encourages young attorneys and professionals to live and grow in Cleveland.
I am proud of my leadership experiences, and for the values that my family has instilled in me. I am also grateful to have earned the endorsement of the Jewish Voters Association, Cleveland Heights Councilwoman Bonnie Caplan, and Ohio State Representative Armond Budish.
On City Council, I will work with local business leaders to keep our business districts vibrant; with our non-profits to keep our community bikeable, walkable, and sustainable; and with our security forces to keep Cleveland Heights safe, secure, and welcoming for all of its citizens. My name is Melissa Yasinow, and I am running for Cleveland Heights City Council. I hope that I may have your support on November 5th. Thank you.
