Due to the recent storm the Cleve Hts. Rambam Eiruv sustained significant damage and is temporarily not kosher for at least this Shabbos Parshas Chayei Sara. For updates please call the eiruv info line 216-282-7947.
Further information to follow on the greater community eruv.
Reb Yid says
What is the Rambam’s Eruv?
How about the Plain old regular Eruv? is that Fine?
Why does the Rambam need his own Eruv?
Can someone please explain the difference to me?
Bahtlahn says
Reb Yid,
The difference is that the “Rambam’s Erev” is kosher according to some of the stringencies of the Rambam. The name was chosen, I believe, to avoid besmirching the original eruv, known as the “Community Erev.” So, instead of saying “new” or “mahadrin” or some other term that would reflect negatively on the Community Erev, the name of the Rambam was attached to it. I hope that helps.
