Emes Vyatziv says
I have to bring up a sore point.
It is of my opinion that beating the system to get miles and such is a disgrace and a furthering of the Jewish stereotype. If you think the airliners, the US mint or readers of wired magazine dont know that this business is closely affiliated with Jews then you are living in a bubble. If its not kosher stear clear, and dont be tempted to give midrashim and acharonisher torah on why its kosher. vihameivin yavin

Emes Vyatziv, not necessarily so. The airlines, credit card companies, etc. are offering these deals to people to take advantage of. Is it a disgrace to tell your friends that Giant Eagle is having a fantastic sale on bananas this week?
great deals says
I have to disagree with emes vyatziv. There is absolutely nothing wrong with taking advantage of deals that the credit card companies are offering. Dan is pointing out deals that you may not be able (or have time) to find on your own. Our family is very straight and we don’t play any games with money or taxes or government programs. We were able to get miles using money that we already spend anyway (between food and tuition it wasn’t a problem!) and took our entire family to Florida to visit elderly grandparents – a trip that we never would have been able to afford otherwise! Thank you Dan! Keep up the good work!

I feel the same as Emes Vyatziv. I don’t claim to be perfect at all but I don’t see this as conducting and living a life with a mindset of Yashrus, as the posuk commands us to. I guess we’ve become desensitized somewhat to such a life and it’s frankly hard to convince someone who sees this as Hashem’s way of giving, instead of how I see this – another bright ploy of the yetzer hora.
Dan says
The airlines and credit card companies encourage you to take advantage of these deals. It’s a win-win-win situation.
Jack says
Can someone please explain to me. How it is worth it to pay tuition with a credit card when the schools charge at least 2%. By paying with a check wouldn’t you just be saving money? For example lets say you paid $100,000 in tuition you only get 100,000 points which can buy you flights but you spent $2000 extra than you would have. So what am I missing?
Dan says
Come to the seminar and it will all make sense 🙂
