Bahtlahn says
To Emes Vyatziv and Hayoshor,
I’m far from convinced that either emes or yashrus is on your side. First, let me say that I have no idea who Dan is. As of this writing, I haven’t been to his site, and I have no plans on going to his seminar. This is not about any connection to him or a bias.
It seems clear to me that Dan is Jewish. If you have a problem with what he is doing, either according to a halachic problem or hashgafa, then you would perhaps have an obligation to tell him directly.
But by posting your opinions here, perhaps a bit proverbially intoxicated by the anonymity of the internet, you have written words that could hurt a Jew’s parnasa. If you believe that he is contributing to a Chilul Hashem (I don’t agree with you – we’re allowed to save money and take advantages of these reward programs), then ask a Rav a shaila about whether you are right and whether you should/can do anything about it. But, until then, leave the guy alone to make his living. It seems to me that what you have done is possibly much worse than what you are accusing him of doing.
(Yes, I’m also submitting this anonymously, but I don’t know who I’m writing this to. And, unfortunately, there are some people who can be rather unpleasant when someone points out to them their faults. If I don’t know who you are, I’m not courageous enough (or dumb enough) to put myself out there.)
My Two Cents says
To Emes Vyatziv and Hayoshor:
While it is possible that there may be a deal, or method out there that is not ethical or Halachically permissible according to your standards, there are very possibly 99 other things to learn that you will miss out on.
(Yes, I’m also submitting this anonymously, but I’ll be at the seminar eating pizza!)
