(The Times of Israel)(Ed: Scholastic has recognized this error, ceasing shipments, and reprinting.)
Arab textbooks are not the only ones erasing Israel from their maps. Scholastic, the world’s largest publisher of children’s books, has also eliminated the Jewish state in a book.
“Thea Stilton and the Blue Scarab Hunt,” part of the popular Geronimo Stilton children’s series translated from Italian and published by Scholastic in 2012, tells the story of a group of investigative journalists involved in a treasure hunt in Egypt.

Please read article that states Scholastic stopped selling this book. A corrected version is being made. I was shocked to think that Scholastic is antisemetic and that I had to stop purchasing from this company. I’m glad I took the time to read the FULL article. How the article is written, you have to read to the end to find out it is being corrected. Dont judge an article by its cover/title.

Scholastic had a really strong response to be admired. Here is an excerpt from their response to concerned consumers.
Thank you for contacting Scholastic. I am pleased to respond to your concerns regarding the book Thea Stilton and the Blue Scarab Hunt, a title in the Geronimo Stilton series, published by Scholastic.
On November 13, 2013 we announced that we had stopped shipment on Thea Stilton and the Blue Scarab Hunt and are revising and reprinting. As of November 15th we had further updates to share.
First, the updated map is now available here (opens in .pdf; be sure to print at 100% and check “actual size” so the page will fit your book exactly). The fictional story is about a trip by three mice to Egypt; the map is intended to give information to young readers about various locations in Egypt. We corrected the map to accurately reflect the borders of areas surrounding Egypt. Reprints are beginning immediately and will begin shipping in approximately 8 to 10 weeks.
Customers who have purchased this book at a retail store, online store or through Scholastic Reading Club or Book Fairs and wish to receive a replacement can print this form, fill it out and mail it along with your book to Scholastic using the shipping label on the form. We will send you a new copy of this book when it is available along with an additional free title in the Thea Stilton series. In addition, we’ve set up phone lines and an email address if you have further questions. Readers who wish to keep their copy of the book can download and affix the updated page over the original page.
Finally, for those who asked, we are pleased to report that the Italian publisher who originally published the title is also making the appropriate corrections for the global market. Like us, they have stopped shipments and will be replacing the books.
