As per advice from her attorney, Channah Appel is asking anyone from the community who is free at 1:30pm on Tuesday, December 17th to come to the Cleveland Heights court across from Dave’s supermarket off of Mayfield Rd. After being surprised to find out that there was a warrant out for her arrest in Cleveland Heights, Mrs. Appel was sent to jail and booked just after Succos, being placed in a cell, fingerprinted, and photographed for a mug shot. She has been accused of stealing thousands of dollars of property from a client that she worked with in her capacity as a home organizer, in Cleveland Heights, and distributing it to needy families. She is currently out on personal bail of $2500. Her third pretrial is set for Tuesday the 17th. Colorful signs are always appreciated!

Ideas for messages on signs?
Omigosh says
Our tefillos go out to her and her family. What a nightmare! Here she is trying to assist from all sides, and then they turn it around on her.

If we cant come to the trial, is there any other way we can help? Is there anyone we can email?

1) Channah Leah bas Tziporah Baila
2) For now email Mrs Appel and she can forward emails to her attorney for those who wish to write something
3) More info to come on the signs and their usefulness

Channah Appel defines Chessed.
Kindness itself is on trial.
An overwhelming public demonstration should attest to her integrity.
Sara Rochell says
Mrs A was told repeatedly NOT TO COME she took and gave things away she did not have privy to. People wise up to this and take the victims side not hers how would you like to have your Earthly pocessesions infiltrated by Rebbetzin gone awry stop being sheep see what really happened
LocalJewishNews says
We have chosen to share comments from the other side in the hopes of finding a way to solve this horrible situation before it goes to court and to prevent much emotional pain and chillul Hashem. Maybe someone can help to make peace?
would rather not say says
Sara Rochell why was this taken to a goyish court?
Even if this is all true it should have been taken to a beis din first.
Mk says
Channa, we support you and appreciate everything that you do to help out community! The community plans on showing up and standing behind you. Sara Rochelle- I’m sorry for your pain and wonder if there is another way that this issue can be worked through.

I think this website should NOT be a forum for Macklokes, because there are always two sides to a story
Chesed? says
“Help” given when not requested is not “help”. Making signs will turn the court into a circus and judges frown upon that. Also, if the person who pressed charges felt that a beit din may be biased towards the other person due to their status in the community, she may have felt there was no other option. Additionally, we don’t know if attempts to recover the items without police involvement were done before pressing charges. There are so many things about this situation that we just don’t know. At this time, we should respect both parties and not try this in the court of public opinion.
Shalombayis says
Chesed, anyone familiar with the case woiuld know the truth, which will come out in court. Mrs. Appel is an outstanding citizen and is FALSELY accused of these trumped up charges so we need to do all we can.

I am very concerned that signs and excited people will look very bad for Mrs Appel and our community. I sincerely hope that every one attending behaves as is proper in a court room.

EducatedGuess says
Signs will not be allowed into the courtroom. Very likely people will have to wait outside or in the lobbyf of City Hall or the hallway.

Taking another Jew to court us a very serious matter, even when it’s a Jewish court and this situation…? Over possessions? I don’t know the complainant but whoever you are – have you discussed this with a Rabbi or counselor. Despite what happened to you, mrs appel is one of the MOST devoted and selfless people in our community! DO YOU REALLY THINK ITS WORTHWHILE TO DRAG YOUR SOUL THROUGH THIS?
Manischewitz says
I think this being openly debated by those that don’t know all the facts and taking either side makes absolutely no sense. Taking a shot at either side and questioning credibility and or Yiras Shomayim is unfair to both parties. We don’t know and therefore should not judge or comment based on the little hearsay that is being vocalized here . The bottom line is it is unfair to everyone involved. Let’s hope that this can be resolved amicably, B’ezras Hashem.

No, I’m not perfect. However, as I get older, I realize more and more how there are three sides to every story and none of us knows the real one, which is the third.
Yes, taking a Jew to court is a serious matter. However, based on what I’ve read here, it seems that there may have been a specific concern that the plaintiff had regarding using a beis din.
I do not know either party involved in this law suit, or the details of it, but I do know this: None of you nor I was there!
