(Ed: Not all camps are Orthodox at this fair.)
The Jewish Federation of Cleveland and the Jewish Education Center of Cleveland present “Not Your Typical Camp Fair” on Sunday January 12, 2014. This informative event offers prospective campers and their parents the opportunity to learn about a variety of Jewish overnight camps, meet the camp directors, and talk with other camp families. The Camp Fair takes place from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Whirly Ball Cleveland, 5055 Richmond Road, Bedford Heights.
Participating camps include Adamah Adventures, B’nai B’rith Beber Camp, Camp JRF, Camp Nageela Midwest, Camp Ramah in Canada, Camp Stone, Camp Wise, Eden Village Camp, Emma Kaufmann Camp, Passport NYC, URJ Camp George, URJ Goldman Union Camp Institute, URJ 6 Points Sports Academy, and USY on Wheels.
“All of these camps are vibrant, welcoming communities rooted in Jewish values,” said Hannah Mendelsohn, who is coordinating the event. “Attending a Jewish camp has been shown to have powerful impact on creating Jewish identity in children that lasts a lifetime.”
Current and prospective campers can play Whirly Ball and bowl with camp staff, who will answer questions about camp life and help kids and parents learn which camp experience is the best fit. Current campers who bring a friend will win prizes! First-time campers can learn if they are eligible for up to $1000 off of camp tuition. Parents who register their child for camp for the first time at the event will receive a $100 credit.
The event is free and open to the public. To RSVP, visit www.jewishcleveland.org/
