(Telshe Yeshiva)
Tuesday, December 31st, 2013, 28 Teves marks the 59th yahrtzeit of the Rosh Hayeshiva, HaRav Eliyahu Meir Bloch zt”l as well as the second yahrtzeit of the unforgettable Rabbi Abba Zalka Gewirtz, zt”l. Rabbi Gewirtz, affectionately known to talmidei hayeshiva and friends as Reb Abba Zalka served as the vice president of the Yeshiva for more than forty years.
Reb Abba Zalka was the quintessential ambassador for Torah and Telshe Yeshiva, developing lifelong friendships with Jews from all walks of life. Rabbi Gewirtz is sorely missed by his family, his talmidim and friends and is remembered as a scholar, a mentor, and an extraordinary human being.

While Rabbi Gewirtz was a great man, we need to focos on Rabbi Bloch as the main person who broght telshe over to America and Focus a lttle on him as well
Telzer says
HaRav Eliyahu Meir Bloch, z”l and his brother-in-law HaRav Chaim Mordechai Katz , z”l established the Telshe Yeshiva in the United States and Rabbi Gewirtz, z”l sustained it for over 40 years. There’s room for all their neshomos on the dais.
Kavod HaTorah says
Every person who is mokir Torah understands that there are two different Dais. One for the Roshei Yeshiva and one for Executive Directors.
Tremendous Hakoras Hatov must be given to the Roshei Yeshiva who established the Yeshiva and made the city what it is today. We must also recognize those who helped them attain their lofty goals. We cannot imagine the gevuras hanefesh it took on the part of the Roshei Yeshiva to replant Torah after the destruction of their personal lives, and the Torah World that they were raised in.
