(For UH) The Police Department is monitoring the speed of vehicles and stopping them if they are traveling too fast for conditions. In general the police are issuing warnings to drivers to beware of icy road conditions, however they will issue citations as warranted. The snow ban is being enforced and the police are contacting the owners of vehicles parked on the street. If the owners cannot be contacted or do not respond within a reasonable period of time, the vehicles will be towed.
· The Building Department recommends that residents leave a cold water faucet dripping to ensure that water is moving through the pipes. This is a preventative measure to keep the pipes from freezing.
· The Service Department is continuing to collect garbage from homes. The men are taking frequent breaks to minimize their exposure to the cold conditions. The collection crews have temporarily increased in size to allow each man to spend less time in the elements. Road salt is being applied to the main streets as well as the intersections and hills on side streets to prevent icy road conditions.
· Call 211 for assistance if you do not have heat and need shelter.

Because of the extreme weather conditions forecast for today and tomorrow – dangerously low temperatures and wind chills – the refuse and recycling collection has been canceled for Tuesday, January 7. Therefore, pick-up will be delayed by one day for the rest of the week.
· If a power outage occurs, call 1-888-544-4877 (1-888-LIGHTSS) to report the outage. Do not go near a downed power line.
