Holocaust Survivor, served in the first Israeli Army, born in Czechoslovakia, lived most of his life in Cleveland, OH and enjoyed his final years at Gidwitz Place in Deerfield, IL; beloved husband for 59 years of the late Susan, (nee Farkas); devoted son of the late Yosef and Leah; loving father of Michael (Mary Lynn), Linda Edwards and the late Yudit; adored Zayde “CeCe” of Lauren, Daniel and Kirsten; preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters; treasured uncle and dear cousin and friend to many. Sam lived an extraordinary life, from a loving childhood to surviving the Holocaust to creating a beautiful life and legacy for his family. He was a co-owner of A & D Furniture Company and was a long-time member of Green Road Synagogue. Services will be held at the BERKOWITZ-KUMIN-BOOKATZ MEMORIAL CHAPEL 1985 S. TAYLOR RD., CLEVELAND HTS., Wednesday, July 15 at 12:00 Noon. Interment Zion Memorial Park Cemetery. There will be a memorial service Sunday, January 19th in Chicago.
