(Cleveland Heights) The City of Cleveland Heights has been selected to be the first city to pilot Cuyahoga County’s new mass emergency notification system, ReadyNotify. ReadyNotify can send out mass messages to citizens, residents and businesses that voluntarily register for notifications. Messages can include emergency alerts, water boil alerts, utility outages and other important information.
On Monday of this week, Cuyahoga County Executive Ed FitzGerald announced the launch of ReadyNotify and encouraged all County residents to sign up. “As a community, we want to ensure that all residents are well-informed and prepared whenever an emergency occurs,” said FitzGerald.
The County created ReadyNotify for its usage and has made it available to all 59 cities for use in their communities at no additional cost. Cleveland Heights will be the first city to use the system for city-specific emergency notifications, which will enable the City to be a model to other communities wishing to join the free system.
“The City of Cleveland Heights is excited to have been selected for this pilot project,” said Tanisha Briley, City Manager. “We were in the process of researching similar systems to purchase when this opportunity to partner with the County came along and the timing couldn’t be more perfect.”
Cleveland Heights residents are encouraged to register for ReadyNotify at www.clevelandheights.com. A valid e-mail address is required and options for receiving messages include cell phone, home phone, work phone, email, text or fax. To insure that all residents can participate, the City has partnered with the CH-UH Library to serve residents in need of computer assistance or help creating an email address.
