Administration:
Formulates, manages and directs cemetery policies, procedures and services.
Plans and directs the finances and record‐keeping of the cemeteries, including submission and monitoring of an
annual budget.
Administers all agreements regarding the operation of each cemetery with partner synagogues, and/or
cemetery associations.
Plans and supervises cemetery development and maintenance in compliance with local, state and federal
regulations and best practices.
Operations:
Performs regular and periodic inspections of each cemetery to ensure grounds and monuments are properly
maintained.
Coordinates the installation, inspection, maintenance and repair of monuments and markers.
In cooperation with Federation’s Human Resources department, hires and supervises staff and outside
contractors including grounds and burial crew.
Oversees burials including arranging for preparation of burial plot, setting up area for mourners and interacting
with funeral homes and bereaved family.
Confers with suppliers, architects and contractors to plan and oversee major projects.
Community Relations:
Refers families and pre‐need clients to congregations and cemetery associations responsible for sale of burial
plots, markers and monuments.
Provides genealogical research assistance to the public concerning the location of specific burial plots.
Works with families to answer questions and address concerns and complaints.
Qualifications:
Three to five years of supervisory experience in project or property management. Cemetery management or
related experience preferred.
Excellent administrative and computer skills.
Proven ability to manage multiple locations and prioritize requirements accordingly.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact positively with bereaved families, members of the Jewish
community and other organizations.
