(Letter from University Heights Mayor Susan Infield)
Hello,
As you are likely aware, Wiley Middle School closed permanently earlier this month and the students have been reassigned to Monticello or Roxboro Middle Schools.
The School District has submitted plans to the City for conversion of the Wiley site to a temporary location for Cleveland Heights High School while the high school is being renovated and rebuilt in Cleveland Heights.
The School District proposes to construct the necessary buildings, etc. at the Wiley site during the upcoming (fall 2014) school year. Following that, for the school years beginning fall 2015 and fall 2016, the high school will relocate to the Wiley site. The District plans to return the students to the new Cleveland Heights High School in fall 2017.
Beginning in fall 2017, the District has proposed relocating the students from Monticello and Roxboro Middle Schools to the Wiley property while those schools are renovated and rebuilt at their sites in Cleveland Heights.
We would like to offer you the opportunity to provide feedback about the proposed plans when they are reviewed by the City. A public comment period will be offered at the following meetings:
· The Planning Commission will review the plans at its next meeting on Wednesday, June 25 at 7 p.m. The meeting will be held in the D.J. Lombardo Student Center Conference Room at John Carroll University.
· The City’s Board of Zoning Appeals will review the plans at its next meeting on Wednesday, July 9 at 7 p.m. in the Jardine Room, located in the D.J. Lombardo Student Center at John Carroll University.
Both the LSC Conference Room and the Jardine Room can be accessed via the University’s Belvoir parking lot. Walkers can enter the building through the doorway on the Belvoir parking lot. If you are driving, please enter campus at the guard house location on Carroll Blvd near Fairmount Circle. When you are beyond the entry gate, turn right, and drive through campus until you arrive at the Belvoir lot. The doorway to enter the building is located on the north end of the parking lot next to the illuminated sign.
Photos of the submitted plans will be posted on the City’s website tomorrow, June 23, so that you can view them in advance of the meetings. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Susan Infeld
