Be a volunteer at Super Sunday, one of the largest community-wide events for Jewish Cleveland! The Jewish Federation of Cleveland seeks volunteers to make calls in support of the 2015 Campaign for Jewish Needs at Super Sunday. The event takes place on November 2 at the Federation’s Mandel Building, 25701 Science Park Drive in Beachwood from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
“Super Sunday is a day of communal unity, camaraderie, and vitality,” said Eliav Sharvit, Super Sunday Co-Chair. “This day leaves all participants with a heightened sense of commitment to our community. We hope everyone will join us November 2 in supporting the Campaign for Jewish Needs at Super Sunday.” Sharvit co-chairs the event with his wife, Caroline, alongside Courtney and Robert Fishman, Rachel and Joel Heiser, and Allison and Jason Wuliger.
For generations, Clevelanders have participated as volunteers at Super Sunday to support the Campaign for Jewish Needs, the annual fundraising campaign that ensures the community’s vitality and vibrancy in the year ahead. The Campaign is run by the Jewish Federation of Cleveland, a 110+ year old community cornerstone that aspires to leave no community member behind. Volunteering at Super Sunday is an opportunity to put traditional Jewish values of justice (tzedek), repairing the world (tikkun olam), acts of loving kindness (gemilut chesed), and Jewish peoplehood (klal yisrael) into action.
The local Cleveland Jewish community is comprised of 80,000 people, and the national and international reach of the Federation encompasses tens of thousands more. Through the Campaign for Jewish Needs, people’s lives are changed for the better around the corner and around the globe. 91 cents of each dollar donated goes directly to the community for programs and services.
“We are improving lives in Cleveland, Israel, and 70 countries around the globe. And, it feels good to help!” said Dan Zelman, General Campaign Chair.
Volunteers may choose from five shifts throughout the day. Childcare for infant to pre-K children is available by reservation from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Children’s activities for K-6th graders will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Kosher meals and snacks will be provided. Kosher dietary laws observed.
Sponsors of Super Sunday are Key Bank, Benesch, and the Cleveland Jewish News.
