The Jewish Federation of Cleveland seeks a full-time Accountant to join our Fiscal Department. The Accountant is responsible for accurate and timely preparation and reporting of financial information to the Directors of Fiscal Operations and Financial Reporting. General accounting tasks along with accounting support for the trust and donor advised funds and supporting foundations will be included in the day-to-day role. Candidates should have at least three years of public accounting experience, with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; certification in public accounting preferred.
Essential Functions of the Job Title:
General Accounting
Reconciles medical and dental bills monthly
Enters and reconciles payroll-related entries monthly
Prepares wires and inter-fund transfers; regularly confirms wires with bank
Reviews and prepares for approval funding requests for a variety of
Assists accounting department management with annual budgeting
Assist in the preparation of quarterly financial statements and related
Prepares financial statement footnotes and year-end analyses as needed
Prepare and review bank reconciliations
Assumes additional responsibilities and performs special projects as
Trusts and Donor Advised Funds
Maintains and calculates fees for Donor Advised Funds on a monthly basis
Prepares monthly entries for trusts from broker statements and maintains
Prepares annual tax returns for trusts, as directed
Assumes additional responsibilities and performs special projects as
Supporting Foundations
Maintains and calculates fees for certain Supporting Foundations on a
Prepare annual tax returns for a number of Supporting Foundations
Oversees the activity of a number of Supporting Foundations, as directed.

Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics:
Developed knowledge of standard accounting practices
Well-developed analytical and problem solving abilities
Ability to read and interpret accounting reports, write reports, business
Able to organize work, engage in a variety of tasks simultaneously and
High degree of initiative and independent judgment
Experience with Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel, and with
High attention to detail, follow-up, self-motivated, proactive and solution
Ability to express self effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing
Ability to tactfully and effectively deal with the public and staff in a

Education, Training and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting
At least 3 years’ experience in public accounting positions
Certified Public Accountant preferred
