Abe Foxman, National Director of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), joins the Jewish Federation of Cleveland for one of his final professional speaking engagements at the 68th Annual Meeting of the Community Relations Committee (CRC) and Sidney Z. Vincent Memorial Lecture. All are welcome to attend the event on Tuesday, February 17 at 7:00 p.m. at Anshe Chesed Fairmount Temple’s Brickner Auditorium, 23737 Fairmount Blvd, Beachwood. (Ed: Please consult with your Rav about attending in this venue.)
Foxman is known throughout the world as a leader in the fight against anti-Semitism, hatred, prejudice, bigotry, and discrimination. He has spent over four decades working to ensure the safety and security of the Jewish people, and will join the Federation at the CRC Annual Meeting to discuss “Global Anti-Semitism.”
“We are honored that Abe Foxman will keynote the 68th Annual Meeting of the CRC,” said Cheryl Davis, Community Relations Committee Chair. “At a time when anti-Semitism poses a very present danger to Jews around the world, there is nobody with more knowledge and first-hand accounts about this scourge than Abe Foxman. He has been a leader in the forefront of this issue for the past 50 years. I cannot think of a more timely and important topic to discuss at our meeting.”
Since joining the ADL in 1965, Foxman has consistently spoken out against hatred and violence wherever they occur. He regularly confers with elected officials and community leaders from around the world and his expertise can be found in his many books, most recently the co-authored Viral Hate: Containing Its Spread on the Internet (Palgrave Macmillan, 2013). Foxman frequently appears on national news programs and is quoted often in The New York Times, The Washington Post, and The Wall Street Journal.
In addition, the meeting will review the Community Relation’s Committee’s achievements. To mark the beginning of a new term, an election of new CRC officers will also take place.
The event is free and open to the public. Space is limited; registration is strongly encouraged. For more information or to RSVP, please visit www.jewishcleveland.org, emailcrc@jcfcleve.org or call 216-593-2858.
