Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson said the city is prepared to handle reaction to the conclusion of the trial of Cleveland police officer Michael Brelo, who’s been charged with voluntary manslaughter in connection with the 2012 police chase and fatal shooting of Timothy Russell and Malissa Williams.
Brelo’s trial is expected to wrap up this week.
“In the wake of the tragic events that unfolded in Baltimore, and bearing in mind the series of police-related matters and legal proceedings currently in process here in Cleveland, I am writing to let you know that the City of Cleveland has been planning and is prepared to address upcoming developments,” Jackson said in an April 28 letter to community and corporate leaders.
