Restaurant owner Abby Aloni of Abby’s Soups and Salads said she believes everything happens for a reason. When the catering business she was running out of her University Heights home was shut down, rather than giving up, she found out what she needed to do to comply to health and safety standards and ended up opening downtown Cleveland’s only kosher restaurant.
“It’s kind of a really crazy story,” said Aloni, who began her career making kosher food out of her kitchen.
Her cooking gained popularity, and as word began to spread, Aloni started sending out a weekly email listing the items she would be making so customers could place orders.
