Twelve boys who attend Jewish day schools in Cleveland walked away without injuries after a minibus in which they were traveling burst into flames near Findley Lake, N.Y.
According to Joshua Klarfeld, father of one of the boys, the 12 children left Cleveland during the early morning of June 24 in a rented Mercedes minibus.
The children were on their way to Camp Kaylie in Wurtsboro, N.Y., and Camp Romimu in Monticello, N.Y. Both are about seven hours from Cleveland.
Based on accounts from his son and several of the other boys, Klarfeld said about two hours into the trip the driver pulled the minibus over to the side of the road after he saw smoke coming out of the hood.
