The Cleveland Heights-University Heights schools likely will not place a tax increase on the November ballot.
Instead, the district plans to make $5 million in cuts, including the elimination of close to 50 full-time positions at a cost of $3.7 million. All of the positions, including at least 16 teaching jobs, are now vacant, and the district would not fill them.
The schools would also reduce material and supply purchases by 10 percent, or $375,000; cut back on information technology services by $360,000; lower utility costs by $340,000; and trim supplemental contracts by $180,000.
The district may return to the ballot in November 2016.
