After an official vote from its congregants (134-17), Green Road Synagogue will be embarking on the construction of a new facility.
“We had a great discussion about the new building project in which we heard comments from a wide variety of the congregation,” Dan Borison, GRS president wrote in an email. “In the end, the proposal to construct a new building passed overwhelmingly.”
The proposed 40,000 new building will sit behind and replace the aging 27,000 square foot structure.
“At this morning’s annual meeting we noted that the Synagogue is financially sound, running at a surplus for the second year in a row. Our membership continues to grow; we are now up to over 330 members, and typically 3 to 4 minyanim on Shabbat mornings. We continue to support widespread activities throughout the community as varied as AIPAC, Israel Bonds and Bikur Cholim. Our Shul is used for educational opportunities on an almost daily basis, and we bring in guest lecturers nearly every month. We continue to strongly support youth activities through both Bnei Akivah and NCSY, as well as our own youth programming each Shabbat,” Borison said.
