If you’re travelling the I-80 between Cleveland and New York this Thursday, you will once again be able to enjoy a free Kosher barbecue on the way.
The Annual I-80 barbecue will be held on April 21st at the FLYING J, 5609 Nittany Valley Drive, Mill Hall, PA 17751 (Exit 173 on interstate 80 in Lamar, PA) between 1-9 pm. No reservations are needed.
The bbq is free of charge, although donations are welcome. All contributions will benefit Matan B’seyser of Cleveland, which assists hundreds of needy families.
In previous years, the bbq enhanced the travels of over 1,100 people with delicious food and Minyanim.

This is really nice but why don’t they do this in Cleveland for locals who need to feed their kids while their houses are aready pesachdik? The travelers aren’t making pesach and not such a big deal to pack some food and eat at a rest stop…

Everyone has their own challenges. It is not easy to travel with young children or long distances. Where to daven? Also it is a nice way to raise funds.
saying good but say better says
To Str;why don’t u do this in Cleveland?? Don’t knock someone’s idea just bec u have a different one
Pesachdik Kishke says
str, Are you serious ? This is being done as a chesed for people travelling long distance who do not have the option for a normal meal or minyan while on the road. For those experiencing difficulties with food at home while making Yom Tov , Baruch Hashem there are a number of options in Cleveland where one can eat a meal outside their home. To question why those who are CONTRIBUTING are not doing more for those who have another option makes no sense and is actually taking away from the tremendous chesed that they are doing for those who do not have another option…
Where to eat? says
Where to eat in Cleveland once your kitchen is turned over? Let’s see. Well, we have two pizza shops, a bagel shop, two meat restaurants, a waffle and ice cream shop that is also a bakery and is serving pizza through Thursday, Subway, a new restaurant at University Circle, a spaghetti night tonight, “Empire Night” on Thursday. Maybe Unger’s, Tibor or Boris could find something to your liking? Perhaps the caterers might have a dish that’s just right for you? Seems to me there are at least a few option that might work! Good luck and Happy Passover! 🙂

what about considering the same- or even without the food- just for the Minyan needs on the return trip Sunday 4/30?

WE JUST LEF
We just left the Flying J on I 80 exit 173. What a Kiddush Hashem. We found a nice crowd, well behaved and everyone enjoying the well prepared food that was made by Shuey Cohen and his crew.
We are so lucky to come from a Community that supports the wonderful organization Matan B’saysar.
While the adults and children alike benefited from this service, it is the feeling that is left behind from those that are unfamiliar with Jews, that will leave a lasting impression.
Best wishes to all for a Chag Kosher V’Samayach

I would like to see a gourmet steakhouse open on the 80, that could service travellers the whole year!!! Why should people who travel have to subsist on potato chips and pretzels!?!?
