About the Speaker:
Sean Martin is the assistant curator for Jewish history at the Western Reserve Historical Society (WRHS), where he oversees the Cleveland Jewish Archives, a special collecting program set up by WRHS in 1976 with the cooperation of the Jewish Federation of Cleveland. He collects materials— usually correspondence, photographs and documents from individuals or organizations— that help tell the stories of the region’s Jewish community.
Martin holds master’s degrees in History and Yiddish language and literature, and a PhD in East European Jewish history from the Ohio State University. He reads, speaks, and translates Polish and Yiddish, and is the author of the book entitled A Stitch in Time: The Cleveland Garment Industry, and has written several articles about Cleveland and Polish Jewish history.
