On July 12, 2016 the barometer of Chesed, kindness, will reach epic levels, unparalleled in Jewish history. This date has been designated a “Chesed Giving Day” by the good folks at Charidy.com, and collectively, a group of organizations – with worthy causes that run the gamut from Bikur Cholim to Hachnosas Kallah, from Chesed Shel Emes to Chesed Centers and everything in between – will group together to raise a significant sum of money in a 24-hour period to alleviate some of the financial strain that Tzedakah organizations shoulder.
The Cleveland Chesed Center, the organization that assists families in Cleveland with food, basic supplies, furniture and clothing, is one of the organizations that will be participating in this campaign. It is their goal to obtain the financial wherewithal to keep improving the lives of those in the Jewish community that they so ably serve.
Under the guidance of the Chesed Center’s associate manager, Mrs. Miriam Roberts, the Center is well-stocked, clean and welcoming. The clients described their experiences:
“Surprised, amazed, grateful, and overwhelmingly appreciative, are some of the feelings I felt as I walked out of your warehouse today.”
“Shopping in the spacious, well-lit, beautifully laid-out Chesed Center, my cart filled, and my heart filled.”
“I love the selection in the food pantry. The fact that you have cleaning supplies is especially helpful and notable to me – and while shopping there, I felt so dignified.”
“I am so grateful to have such a well-stocked, accessible, and accommodating resource.”
“I want everyone involved in setting this up to know how much your work is appreciated.”
The “Chesed Giving Day”, cleverly using the Hashtag #AllKindsOfKindness – aims to receive a lot of contributions which will collectively be used for one purpose: Chesed. After all, Chesed, for the Jewish nation, is a way of life!
As with other Charidy campaigns, its success will be reliant on the generosity and involvement of the individual members of Jewish communities from around the world. Every dollar donated will be matched by 3 benevolent matchers, ensuring that the power of every donation is quadrupled. The Chesed Center’s share of the larger goal is to raise $100,000 in 24 hours for their activities, and with the support of the Jewish people, who always pull through for Tzedakah causes –by contributing personally and by sharing the campaign with their friends via their own social media pages or email – a sense of optimism reigns that the goal will indeed be reached.
Look out in your email inbox and on various Jewish websites for the start of the campaign and be a part of it; be a part of history!
Mi K’Amcha Yisroel!
