The IRS is hiring 60 staff members for their Cleveland office for seasonal – annual work doing technical assistance over the telephone. No college degree required, pay over $16 per hour with benefits and some benefits to offset college tuition. The season is at a minimum Jan – Apr but may be extended until June depending on budget and any big tax changes. The starting pay is just over $16/hr. with benefits. You can keep your health insurance during the lay off season and either catch up on the premiums by doubling up when you come back to work, or pay cash during the off season. It would be a good job for someone semi-retired, a mother with school age children if she can arrange after school care during the season, or a young person looking for a way to afford secular college. I’m taking 12 credits online at Champlain College this fall for $1600 because of the discount we receive for working for the government. That’s without any scholarship or other financial aid. I’ll be paying it at $400/mo Aug – Nov or until my student loan comes through.
College degree is NOT required. Must be able to be polite on the phone to people who are sometimes very nasty. Must be punctual – if your break is 15 minutes, don’t take 18 minutes. Must have decent reading comprehension and be able to do basic math [add, subtract, multiply, divide, fractions, and percent’s].
