While some commenters didn’t feel right about the contest, pointing out that the mitzvah and holiness of Sukkos shouldn’t become another aspect of material competition and one-upsmanship, most readers–including myself–were inspired by the amount of thought and effort given to beautifying the mitzva of sukkah. Perhaps we can look at this competition as kinas soffrim. No one is trying to ‘win’ in the sense that others lose, but by each one of us trying our best we urge each other to greater heights.
