Minimum Qualifications: Undergraduate degree in Mathematics Education or a related field is required. An advanced degree and at least three years of experience teaching middle or high school math are preferred.
The middle school math teacher should demonstrate a passionate and energetic commitment to the Joseph and Florence Mandel Jewish Day School’s mission and vision. Experience with substantive curricular work, creative problem solving, team building, and a collaborative approach is essential. The teacher should be thoroughly familiar with recent developments in education in order to assess and implement a high-quality program.
Responsibilities include:
- Teaching five middle school math classes
- Serving as an advisor and overseeing the academic and social growth of 10 advisees
- Serving on a grade level team to plan, develop, and assess interdisciplinary units, project-based learning, and integrated programs
- Serving as a productive member of the Middle School Mathematics Department
- Engaging in school life and other duties as assigned
