The Shulchan Aruch (58:1) writes that it’s a mitzvah min hamuvchar to say Shema k’vasikin – at sunrise. The Be’ur Halacha explains that those who are careful to daven k’vasikin can do so even without a minyan. HaRav Nebenzahl and many other poskim say that this refers to someone who is careful on any day – even without consistency.
