The headline and description is both misleading and false. It is not just a simple it used to be 10 days and now it is 5 days. The CDC changed its isolation guidelines that after 5 days, if the person is asymptomatic or if their symptoms have resolved and are fever free for 24 hours, then this is followed by 5 additional days of wearing a mask when around others to minimize the risk of infecting others. Additionally, they recommend that for the unvaccinated and those who are 6+ months post second dose without a booster, that one quarantines for 5 days followed by strict mask use for an additional 5 days.
These new guidelines are not applicable to healthcare employees.
Omicron is so much more infectious than the previous mutants that we, as a community, have a requirement to be extra vigilant for the safety of not just the Jewish community but everyone else as well.
