Am Echad, an affiliate of the Agudah, is mounting a campaign – 150,000 signatures strong – for Jews outside of Eretz Yisroel to tell the Israeli government “No!” to the plan to partition the Kosel. Partitioning the Kosel, also known as the “Kotel Compromise,” means that all visitors to the Kosel would be guided toward one of two plazas – the “traditional” Kosel Plaza, and a separate plaza for mixed prayer. In addition, control of the Kosel will be given to a Reform and Conservative committee. The government intends to implement this soon because of a Reform-led campaign that told Israeli politicians that this policy is necessary to “appease” Jews outside of Eretz Yisroel.
