In keeping pace with the ever-changing healthcare needs of Jews in Cleveland struggling with a medical crisis, Bikur Cholim is on the move in 2022.
Bikur Cholim is pleased to announce a new 24-Hour Hotline, staffed by volunteers after-hours and during the night, for those who need support that can’t wait until the next business day. This service, made possible through the generosity of an anonymous donor, is not a replacement for 911. During Shabbos, the line is available for transportation needs only. Call 216-320-1771.
Bikur Cholim recently launched a new Women’s Health Division designed to support the unique healthcare needs that Jewish women face. The service will include advocacy and emotional support around medical issues such as infertility, pregnancy miscarriage/loss and OB/GYN health and wellness.
“We want women in the community to know they are not alone. They can now turn to someone who understands what they are going through and can point them in the right direction,” states Leviah Hauer, RN, who as a volunteer will serve as the liaison for the program. Mrs. Hauer is a practicing nurse in Cleveland with over 20 years of experience.
To kick-off this initiative, Bikur Cholim, in partnership with Hillcrest Hospital’s OB/GYN Department, hosted a women’s reproductive health seminar titled, “Life Unexpected”, featuring local gynecologist Dr. Julian Peskin as a speaker.
