While the letter was written to Pepper Pike residents, the message applies to our locales as well.
This is Chief Karl Dietz of the Pepper Pike Police Department with an important security message.
Over the past 5 months, Pepper Pike has experienced 5 vehicle thefts & at least 12 incidents in which items were stolen from a garage or unlocked vehicles. All incidents took place overnight & during early morning hours. All of the vehicles were unlocked & the stolen cars had keys left inside.
Though vehicles driven by potential suspects have been noticed fleeing the area at night when near officers on patrol, the availability of unsecured vehicles is bringing thieves back on a consistent basis. Please help us to prevent these crimes by securing your garage & locking your cars & home. If you see or hear someone or something suspicious, please call us & do not investigate on your own. Let’s work together to keep Pepper Pike safe.
Thank you.
