Mrs Esther Kupfer will return to Cleveland for shiva beginning Thursday morning at 3693 Berkeley Road and will get up Monday morning. Nichum aveilim only for women. We regret to inform you of the passing of Abraham Metz. Age 93, son of Baruch and Rosa Metz, he succumbed to cancer after a prolonged illness. He was surrounded by family members and holding the hand of his wife of 60 years, Gerda Metz. Those who knew Abraham knew that he was a tough, driven man who made great sacrifices and worked incomparably hard all his life on behalf of the family that he loved so dearly. A Holocaust survivor who experienced hell on earth, and who lost his parents and six brothers, he came to the US with nothing and through sheer will and determined hard work, in partnership with his wife, provided a loving home and a comfortable and values driven life — rife with opportunity — for his family. Mrs. Esther Silverstein of Borough Park, NY passed away early Monday morning, 22 Tishrei – Shemini Atzeres 5777.
She was 91.
She was the daughter of Basha Freid, cousins to Ansbacher, Borenstein, Hendel, Freid, and the Tennenbaums of Montreal and Crown Heights.
She is survived by her four children: Ira Silverstein- Manhattan, New York ; Joyce Toub – Albany, New York; Devorah Baila Spadone – Cleveland, Ohio and Neil Silverstein- Los Angeles, California.
The levaya will take place in Brooklyn, New York on Thursday at 11:00 AM starting at the Norman Jeffer Chapel 3803 14th Ave. Brooklyn, NY and continuing to the Beth David Cemetery in Elmont, NY.
Shiva will be held at 838 West End Ave Apt # 2C on Thursday. Devorah Baila Spadone will be sitting shiva Motzei Shabbos thru Wednesday in her home in Cleveland, Ohio.
