The Shabbos Project “Men’s Night Out”!
Bikur Cholim Ladies’ Workshop: “A Friend in Deed to a Friend in Need”
We all know SOMEONE who is going through a difficult time……
Your cousin who’s husband just lost his job. Your old classmate who’s still single. Your friend whose child has developmental delays. Your neighbor who is dealing with financial stress. Your niece who lost a pregnancy. Your coworker who is divorced.
Your heart goes out to them, but it’s hard to find the right words to say. You want to show that you care, but you don’t want to bring up a sore topic.
Should you ignore the issue and pretend that everything’s normal? Should you say something and risk inflicting more harm than help? Should you call? Text? Send a meal? Send a gift? Leave a note on the door? Hide your face and pretend the person doesn’t exist?
Now you don’t need to wonder anymore. Get the answers you need at a community workshop that will teach you everything you need to know about helping your friends and family through tough times.
Brought to you by Bikur Cholim in conjunction with Bellefaire JCB, Menorah Park, Montefiore & Naaleh, A Friend in Deed to a Friend in Need is an empowering and dynamic presentation for women by Mrs. Zahava Farbman, MSW, PhD Candidate, Associate Director of Project Chai.
The workshop, which draws on Torah foundations, psychology and Mrs. Farbman’s professional experiences, will teach you what to think, say, and do in response to those facing challenges. You’ll learn the Torah perspective on authentic friendship, and how to balance support, empathy, and privacy.
The presentation will be followed by a question and answer session. You will leave with your questions answered, plus the knowledge and practical strategies you need to support anyone in your life, facing difficulties, great or small.
Don’t miss the event happening on October 22 at Maltz Auditorium at Montefiore, One David N. Myers Parkway Beachwood, OH 44122.
The doors open at 7:30 and the workshop begins at 7:45 sharp, followed by Q&A and light refreshments. The event is for women only.
Suggested donation is $10.
