An Eruv Primer
(by Rabbi Yirmiyohu Kaganoff – RabbiKaganoff.com)
This week’s parsha includes one of the major sources for prohibiting carrying on Shabbos, which provides a good opportunity to study some of the complicated halachos of carrying on Shabbos and the halachos of Eruvin. We cannot do justice to this vast and complicated topic in one short article. However, I will attempt to provide an introduction to some of the issues involved.

Heights Libraries to explore renovation options for University Heights branch
The Lee Road branch of the Cleveland Heights-University Heights Public Library was renovated in 2005-2006, and the Noble branch in 2011. Now it’s time for the University Heights branch: the building, its programs, and its services.
The University Heights branch (UH) is the second most heavily used branch in the Heights Libraries system, after the main branch on Lee Road. Last year, the 60-year-old UH branch circulated 187,000 items and welcomed 184,500 visitors. As for programs and services, the UH branch is the home of the city of University Heights Senior Network programs, the Senior Spot and the Teen Spot. It hosts an international movie festival and babysitting clinics. Hundreds of children attend story times and programs each year, and University Heights staff visit the CH-UH Schools, Purvis Park, Whole Foods and John Carroll University throughout the year.

Fuel line freeze-up
Years ago when metal tanks were common, fuel was of lower quality, and other factors, it was not uncommon for the car fuel line to freeze up. Today this is not so common, but not impossible. However, freezing is prevented by making sure that the gas level is not below half a tank. When your gas tank has more air, the moisture in the air can freeze and leave ice flakes which then clogs the line. This usually happens when the car is sitting for a few hours in the cold, but the fuel line can also freeze while you are driving if the conditions are cold enough.

Extreme Cold Weather Warnings from UH & CH
(University Heights City Advisory, CH Email)
(For UH) The Police Department is monitoring the speed of vehicles and stopping them if they are traveling too fast for conditions. In general the police are issuing warnings to drivers to beware of icy road conditions, however they will issue citations as warranted. The snow ban is being enforced and the police are contacting the owners of vehicles parked on the street. If the owners cannot be contacted or do not respond within a reasonable period of time, the vehicles will be towed.

Segulah of Parshas HaMan for Tuesday
The Yerushalmi teaches that one who recites Parshas Hamon every day is assured that his food will not be lacking. Reb Mendel M’Riminov said that saying Parshas Hamon (Shenayim Mikroh V’Echod Targum) on the Tuesday of Parshas B’Shalach, is a Segulah for Parnasah, and indeed this has become a well accepted custom in many circles. Also have in mind as well all of Klal Yisroel, many of whom are suffering terribly with a lack of parnassah. Chazal teach that one who prays for someone else in need, for the same thing that they need, the one praying for their friend will be answered first!
Click HERE for the complete text of Parshas Haman with the targum, or click HERE for Artscroll’s interlinear translation of the mikroh only.
