Widow combines Kabbalah and comics to fight cancer

In a new graphic novel aimed at kids battling the disease, Beachwood art therapist Shira Frimer turns her husband into a superhero.
(Times of Israel – *non-frum publication)
Comics and kabbalah collide with cancer in a new graphic novel that pits Jewish mysticism against the disease.
Whirling from a children’s cancer ward to a world that is “nistar” — Hebrew for hidden — the 100-page fantasy follows Dr. Jacob Barak as he challenges dark forces and searches for a lost, mystical stone with miraculous healing powers.
Shira Frimer, an art therapist from Beachwood, Ohio, drew on Jewish legend and mysticism to write the page-turner — and on her own, very personal encounter with the disease.

Private Rebbe – Tutor
Lahav – Coming To Visit Cleveland
Rabbi Akiva Houghtling, director of the largest outreach and achdus building organization in Eretz Yisrael that you’ve probably never heard about is coming to Cleveland to raise awareness and support.
Few people have heard of a law in Israel that requires over 25,000 non-religious Jewish couples to learn Torah with frum people EVERY year. Although in the past these forced meetings have been more a recipe for disaster rather than an opportunity for success, Lahav is turning this around! But let’s start at the beginning…

Another Disappointment from the CJN about the Messianics
As posted previously, the Cleveland Jewish News accepted a paid ad for a movie produced by and about Messianics. There has been a significant response from the community expressing disappointment with this decision. In subsequent issues, the CJN did print two letters from concerned community members who explained why this was such a bad decision, according to all Jewish groups across the spectrum, and how the Messianic group is so dangerous to the survival of Klal Yisroel.
However, it is of great concern that rather than apologize, the CJN also published this week a letter entitled ‘CJN praised for taking ad,’ from the very pastor who runs the Messianic “church” in which he attempts to argue why his group is part of the Jewish community and how there is nothing wrong this film since it features “Jewish” people in the story line. Giant Eagle Nixes Foodperks Program
(Ed: Not the FuelPerks program, but it’s still kinda complicated what program to use at the gas pump. Basically if you have accumulated Fuel Perks (.10 every $50 spent) then use those at Get Go but if you have none left, you can still scan your Advantage card and take advantage of the new .03 off every gallon program regardless of accumulate rewards. )
The food and gas retailer Giant Eagle will no longer offer its foodperks program to customers after Feb. 13.
The ending of the program comes as the company is now offering a 3-cent per gallon discount anytime customers swipe their Giant Eagle Advantage cards at GetGo gas stations.
Foodperks allowed GetGo customers to get discounts on food at Giant Eagle.
