We regret to inform you of the passing of Mr. Chaim (Haimie) Taub (Miami, formerly Cleveland), son of Mrs. Magda Taub, husband of Edina Taub, father of Baruch & Shimshi & Ahuva Taub, and Dina Leah Rappoport, and brother of Ilana (Barry) Moskowitz (Monsey), and brother of Freddie Taub. Hespedim, eulogies Wednesday, February 19th, 2014, 7pm at Berkowitz-Kumin. Burial in Eretz Yisroel.

Cleveland Heights Residents Consider the CH Natural Gas Aggregation Program This Year!

gasThe City of Cleveland Heights Natural Gas Aggregation Program has a great rate right now – just $4.70 per MCF! In November of 2001 a majority of Cleveland Heights’ residents approved a ballot issue authorizing the City to form an aggregation whereby retail natural gas consumers would be automatically included in a large buying group unless, subject to prior notice, they followed a stated procedure to opt-out. Any eligible retail natural gas consumer in Cleveland Heights has the ability to decline service, opt-out of the aggregate, and choose the incumbent supplier or any other alternative competitive retail natural gas supplier.

Rabbi Meir Schuster, z”l

It is with great sadness that we report the passing of a most remarkable figure in modern Jewish history, Rabbi Meir Schuster zt”l, who was a legend in his time, a man who was a constant, iconic presence at the Kosel for almost forty years, a man who personally and dramatically impacted thousands and thousands of Jewish lives, a man who single-handedly introduced more Jews to Judaism, quite possibly, than anyone else in Jewish history.

Meir Tzvi Schuster was born on January 22, 1943 to Morris and Mary, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Typical of the Jewish experience at the time, young Meir attended public school. At the age of eleven, his parents enrolled him in Rabbi Dr. Abraham J. Twerski’s afternoon Hebrew School. Rabbi Twerski took a personal interest in helping Meir catch up to the other students and the two formed a close bond.

I hate the term “shvartze.” Unfortunately many of my children’s friends and teachers use this term and do not see anything wrong with it. When I tell them it’s not a nice word to use, they answer, “But my Morah says it!” How can I answer them without lowering their respect for their Morah?

‘Safety Kid’ program makes local debut

Teaching children safety skills at a young age is critical. Teaching parents and teachers how to reinforce these skills is just as important.

To promote safety, the Magen Yeladim International Child Safety Institute’s Safety Kid program will be taught to staff, teachers, parents and children at Fuchs Mizrachi School in Beachwood and the Hebrew Academy of Cleveland in Cleveland Heights from, Monday, Feb. 24 to Wednesday, Feb. 26.
