This is the Chief Rabbinate of Israel annual pre-Chanukah report on bogus olive oils. It pertains to edible oil as well as olive oil for lighting only. The list seems to be growing, in part due to the growing demand for olive oil in the country. The Rabbinate feels this is the result of more health awareness and the known benefits of olive oil as well as the increase in the number of people lighting Shabbat candles Baruch Hashem accompanied by an increase in the number of these people who are changing over from candles of one type or another to olive oil.
