Watch Out for the Deadly Knockout Game
A few weeks ago a Jewish teenager was riding his bike on E. Antisdale in South Euclid and for “no reason” a teen on the street hit him flat in the face. The teen was surrounded by other youths with backpacks who just looked on. The Jewish kid recovered consciousness and could not recall what happened. At the time it seemed just a random event but recently news stories have indicated that it may be part of a new and very dangerous crime trend. At this point, this is the only incident affecting the Cleveland Jewish community to our knowledge.

CH Awarded a Consultant Team from The Ohio Department of Transportation To Develop a School Travel Plan

In order to encourage school children to walk or bike to school, the City of Cleveland Heights applied for and was awarded a consultant team from the Ohio Department of Transportation. The team, which includes traffic engineers, is helping to develop a School Travel Plan, with a focus on five schools that are geographically dispersed throughout the city. The study schools include Oxford Elementary, Canterbury Elementary, Roxboro Elementary, Monticello Middle School and the Hebrew Academy.

Cleveland Heights-University Heights School District Facilities Accountability Committee Mission & Organization
(CH-UH School District)(Ed: This is a great opportunity for community members who want to get involved in the planning of school construction as a result of the passing of the school levy.)
The mission of the Cleveland Heights-University Heights City School District’s Facilities Accountability Committee (FAC) is to monitor and regularly report to the Board of Education regarding the status, progress and expenditure of funds for Phase 1 of the District’s comprehensive plan, as authorized by District voters as Issue 81 in November 2013.
The FAC’s responsibilities include: monitoring the implementation of, and revisions to, the Facilities Master Plan; as well as monitoring the status of construction, financing and fundraising, monitoring proposed and actual construction costs, and facilitating community engagement in school planning, construction contracting and construction workforce.
Membership on the FAC will be limited to residents and a Board liaison and will be strictly voluntary. The initial ten (10) members of the FAC will be appointed by the Board of Education from applications received through an open nomination process.
