Biggest children’s book publisher erases Israel from map
(The Times of Israel)(Ed: Scholastic has recognized this error, ceasing shipments, and reprinting.)
Arab textbooks are not the only ones erasing Israel from their maps. Scholastic, the world’s largest publisher of children’s books, has also eliminated the Jewish state in a book.
“Thea Stilton and the Blue Scarab Hunt,” part of the popular Geronimo Stilton children’s series translated from Italian and published by Scholastic in 2012, tells the story of a group of investigative journalists involved in a treasure hunt in Egypt.

Whooping cough cases are up in Ohio leading health officials to urge up-to-date vaccinations
(Plain Dealer)(Ed: This has been a major health concern in Orthodox communities, primarily due to ease of travel in close communities as well in some cases, though not all, poor immunization compliance.)
With whooping cough cases up more than 20 percent in Ohio, health officials are urging all residents to make sure they’re up to date on the vaccination that protects against the highly contagious disease.
As of Nov. 2, 901 cases of pertussis, also known as whooping cough, had been reported in Ohio. That’s up from 742 as of that date last year.

HaRav Mattisyahu Salomon, Shlita, brings a startling question on last week’s Parsha from the Ponovezher Rav, Z’tl: Yaakov Avinu, had just left the Beis Midrash where he had been studying for 14 hours non-stop, and arrives in a foreign land looking for Lavan. In his first recorded communication with the outside world, this Yeshiva man expresses his displeasure with how the working people he encounters are doing their job–telling them that (Bereishis: 29:7): “Hein Od HaYom Gadol…–the day is still long; it is not yet time to bring the livestock in; let your flock drink and go on grazing.” How could he–a Yeshiva man, a foreigner, have the audacity to tell them how to do their job?
