Low Price on an Electric Menorah
Amazon has got the Rite-Lite Judaica Deluxe Silvertone Plastic Electric Menorah for the lowest price around just $24. Of course it is not kosher to use an electric menorah to fulfill the mitzvah but this might serve as a beautiful window display or something for the younger kids (bulbs are hot though). Or it may be a way to bring Hannukah to people in the hospital or in places where it is difficult to light a fire. These usually sell for over $35 in the stores. And it is more than 15″ tall!

Daylight Savings Time
Daylight savings time ends this Sunday morning, November 3rd at 2am giving us an extra hour to do something that we often don’t have a chance to do! But it also means that we have to once again revisit how we are able to find a minyan and daven on time. LocalJewishNews maintains a list of Mincha Minyanim here. Let us know if is there is anything wrong or missing. This year the end date for daylight savings time in Israel was changed so Israelis returned to standard time last week, some 3 weeks earlier than normal putting Israel 6 hours ahead of EST today and then after we return to standard time, 7 hours ahead.

Susan’s Suggestions for the Elections – Tuesday November 5, 2013 (Updated)
(Click here to download as an easy-to-print PDF) (Ed: Voting suggestions and voting guides are welcomed from other readers too!)
Includes updated information with regard to Issue 80 based on reader feedback and further research.
As always, I offer these suggestions because of the importance of casting an informed vote. For our community to count, our votes must be countable, and we have a responsibility to our greater community and a mitzvah to show up and vote. Local elections in many ways effect our daily living in an up close and personal way and are therefore just as important if not more so than national ones. However, unlike national elections, absentee ballot request forms will not automatically be mailed to your home. Those requests can be made through Board of Elections, or else plan to show up at your precinct on Election Day.
By popular demand, in order to make viewing easier, this guide consists of two sections: The Quick Voting version followed by the Expanded Explanations.
