Per minutes from the recent University Heights council meeting, the demolition of the former Fuchs Mizrachi School is three-quarters done and Mayor Susan Infeld said she expects the city to have a park on the site by spring!

Oheb Zedek-Cedar Sinai to honor Rabbi Pickholtz

Oheb Zedek-Cedar Sinai Synagogue will pay tribute to the late Rabbi Isidore Pickholtz with a series of events Friday, Oct. 4, through Sunday, Oct. 6, at the synagogue, 23749 Cedar Road in Lyndhurst.
Pickholtz led Sinai Synagogue, one of the synagogues from which Oheb Zedek-Cedar Sinai was formed, for 38 years. He died in 2006 at age 88.

Former Israeli Deputy Defense Minister to speak at FIDF Ohio Gala
Former Israeli Deputy Defense Minister, Brig. Gen. (Res.) Ephraim Sneh, will be the keynote speaker at the Friends of the IDF (FIDF) Ohio Chapter Annual Gala Dinner on Thursday, October 17, 2013 at Executive Caterers at Landerhaven in Mayfield Heights, OH.
Dr. Ephraim Sneh, M.D., an Israeli politician, physician, and retired Brigadier General in the Israel Defense Forces, served as a member of the Knesset from 1992-2008. Most recently he served as Chairman of the Knesset sub-committee on Defense Planning and Policy from 2003-2006. Sneh also served as the Deputy Minister of Defense from 1999-2001. He is currently the Chairman of the S. Daniel Abraham Center for Strategic Dialogue at Netanya Academic College and President of Silver Bullet Ltd.

A reader has reported that Fresh Express lettuce for sale at Heinen’s which usually carries the Star-K kosher now seems to be lacking it. The bags that were missing the hecksher had a best before date of Sept 28th. This is not based on any official alerts so do your homework.

That’s the goal of the DNA Shoah Project, which will come to the Cleveland area for the first time from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, at the Mandel Jewish Community Center in Beachwood.
