Cleveland Heights Mayor Ed Kelley will not seek reelection
(Sun Press)
Ed Kelley announced Monday night he will not seek reelection in November after 20 years on City Council, the last 16 as its president and mayor.
Kelley, 56, said today he “didn’t want to be one of those people” who stays in office too long, and decided this was the right time to step away. He acknowledged that while he has been urged by many to enter next year’s Cuyahoga County executive race, it is not something he is seriously considering at this time.

Home Repair Resource Center Tip of the Week: Lath-and-plaster walls
(Sun News)
(Ed: This is a great article for those with homes built before the early 50’s and who struggle with hanging pictures, etc. Also, it is useful for those delving into the halachos of z’chur l’churban (leaving a bare spot on the wall to remember the loss of the Temple.))
Lath-and-plaster walls are common in older houses (built late 18th Century until the early 1950’s, when drywall became standard). Whether you want to hang a picture, mirror or kitchen cabinet, securing things to older lath-and-plaster walls can be challenging.

Deer on the increase, with control left to homeowners for now
(Heights Observer)
Deer wandering around residential neighborhoods is an increasingly common sight in the Heights as the deer population grows.
Though the City of Cleveland Heights does not track its deer population, Mayor Edward Kelley said he believes there has been an increase in the number of deer inside city limits.
