O-U Presents Top Consumer Questions Received for the Summer
(O-U) Please check with your own LOR for psak on these questions:
OU Kosher presents frequently asked questions to-date on the OU Kosher Hotline (212-613-8241) by consumers received for the summer. Questions may also be submitted to kosherq@ou.org.
1. Q: Can one eat in an ice cream or yogurt store product that has been scooped from a container that bears O-U certification?
A: In some instances, the OU certifies an entire store. In such cases, the OU letter of certification will state that a particular store located in a specific location is under OU supervision. Obviously, one can eat everything in a certified store. However, it is often the case that the OU certifies a brand name ice cream or yogurt, but the OU does not certify the store that sells the product, even though the store has the same brand name as the product. In this latter instance, the OU only certifies sealed containers bearing the OU symbol. Once the container is opened, the OU no longer vouches for the kosher integrity of the item, as the scoop may have been previously used for non-certified flavors.
2. Q: Can I drink coffee at a non-certified restaurant?

Cleveland Heights City Council frusturated with delayed Milikin School lease agreement
City Council members have expressed disappointment in the Cleveland Heights-University Heights school board’s failure to finalize a lease agreement with Orthodox Jewish day school Mosdos Ohr Hatorah for the former Millikin School property, nearly a year after a non-binding proposal was approved.
Mosdos has long eyed the 46,555-square-foot Millikin building at 1700 Crest Road, which closed in 2006 as an early childhood center.

LATEST UPDATE: Suspect In Our Neighborhood
It seems that since Monday night things have been quiet as far as the suspect is concerned. It is very likely that given all the attention that this story has gotten (16,ooo page views, WKYC 3 News report), as well as the very strong police presence in the area, that the suspect has decided not to return. Once again, it is important to restate that he has not been seen making any physical gestures or attempts to grab children, but rather following, scaring, saying lewd things, or similar to children on the sidewalk. It is important to stay on the look-out but B”H we have not heard anything about him in almost a week.
A few new details have been clarified about the suspect’s vehicle. There was some confusion about the make and model of the vehicle with many of those who spotted him saying that it was either some time of small SUV/ cross-over. It is not surprising that it turns out that the vehicle is a not very common, 2012 or 2013 Chevrolet Captiva Sport and the color is silver. Visit this link to get a number of different views of this vehicle. This has been confirmed based upon a photograph taken by someone who saw this vehicle near children in Cleveland Heights. In this photograph, the vehicle has a temp license on the back but it was too blurry to read and police have fully investigated this lead. There seems to be consistency that the suspect is a white male, 40s, dark-hair with some spikes or similar in the front.
