Oakwood Commons will bring change, but how remains unclear
(Cleveland Jewish News)
It’s been more than two years since Lyndhurst-based First Interstate Properties announced its intent to turn the Oakwood Country Club, a former private Jewish country club that straddled South Euclid and Cleveland Heights, into Oakwood Commons, a mix of retail, residential and green space.
While progress has been made on the South Euclid side of things – including plans for a Walmart Supercenter on that city’s 62 acres – plans for 92 acres in Cleveland Heights remain largely on the drawing board.

Halachos of Sheva Brachos (Marriage Feast)
(Hakhel)
With Chasuna (wedding) season upon us, it becomes necessary to once again review the Halachos of Sheva Brachos, so that we can be better guided when attending a Sheva Brachos Seudah, or being asked to be the “Panim Chadoshos”. We present below several such Halachos, as excerpted from the Sefer Oholei Yeshurun by Rabbi Aharon Felder, Shlita. As always, one should consult with his Rav or Posek for a final P’sak or in the case of any doubt:
1. If a Chasuna occurs near sh’kia and the meal cannot begin on the same day (before sunset), then the seven days begin on the following day (i.e. the day of the actual Chasuna meal).

Jaffa Oranges With O-U Now In Local Stores
Delicious Jaffa Oranges from Israel are not hard to find in stores but the kosher consumer has generally stayed away from these due to concerns about maasros and trumos (tithing), orla (tree age before eating fruit), and shviis (Sabbatical year prohibition). It is important to note that there are many guides available in print or in audio formats that will help the consumer to deal with these issues and eat these fruits in a fairly easy way and in so doing help the Israeli economy.
But, now there is an easier way, buy Jaffa oranges with a hechsher (O-U) and all of these concerns are no longer. This 5lb box was bought at the Cleveland Heights Zagara’s store. In this day an age of Israeli boycotts, it would not hurt to mention to the store that you appreciate them carrying Israeli products.
