Making Our Days Count: A Review of the Halachos of Sefiras HaOmer
Rabbi Yirmiyohu Kaganoff rabbikaganoff.com
In Parshas Emor, the Torah teaches us: Hashem spoke to Moshe saying, Speak to the Children of Israel and say to them: “When you enter the land that I am giving to you and you will cut its harvesting, then you shall bring an omer-sized portion from the first of its harvest to the kohen. And he (the kohen) shall wave the omer before Hashem for your benefit, on the day after the ‘day of rest’ the kohen shall wave it… And you should count for yourselves from the day after the ‘day of rest,’ from the day you bring the omer of waving, until there will be seven complete weeks.

Your Community is Participating in OU Jobs/Relocation Fair, 4/21
(O-U)
It was once an untested concept; now it is reality. When the Orthodox Union presented its first Jewish Communities Home and Job Relocation Fair, back in 2008, the visionary thought of then-OU President Stephen J. Savitsky was that there were “emerging” Orthodox communities across North America that would be thrilled to throw open their doors to families and individuals relocating from the most populous (and expensive) areas of Orthodox life, that is, the New York metropolitan area.

Doublecheck Pesach Products for Hechsherim
Two problems that consumers should continue to be vigilant about:
1) Products may contain a number of hechsherim, only one of which certifies the product for Pesach. It is not uncommon for the year-round hechsher to be one that is acceptable to a large audience but the one certifying just for Pesach to be one that not all accept (i.e. Rabbanut of a given small Israeli city, or unknown foreign hasghacha).
2) Especially in supermarket kosher isles, look for the exact same product stocked in both Kosher for Pesach and not Kosher for Pesach forms in the same “Passover” location.
The COR (Canada) provides the following common examples that were found:

STAR-K Kashrus Hotline’s 10 Common Medicine and Cosmetic Questions
(See also this year’s Cleveland Kosher Pesach Bulletin)
1 . My prescription medicine is not listed in the guide, I guess I shouldn’t take it over Pesach?
NO! As the Guide clearly states prescription medicines under most circumstances MUST be taken unless permission is granted from the prescribing physician AND your RAV to abstain over Pesach. See page 96 in the guide for more details.
2. What could be wrong with mouthwash, toothpaste and liquid medicine?
LOTS! The sweeteners and alcohols could be grain based, moreover they could be non-kosher. See the consumer section of www.star-k.org for more details on the year-round kashrus of liquid medication.
3. My vitamins are not listed do they fall under the same category as prescriptions addressed in question #1?
No. Vitamins in general do not have the same dispensations as medicines both for year-round and Pesach use. However we can often be lenient for someone who is ill or weak, consult your Rav if you feel you need to take vitamins on Pesach that are not listed.
